Terms · deposits, framing and shipping

The deposit

Reserving a print costs a deposit: 50% of the current framed tier price for a framed edition, or NZ$300 for an unframed print. The deposit secures your number in the edition from the moment the payment clears.

The deposit is refundable in full until you accept the framing and shipping quote. We will come back to you with framing options and a shipping cost for your address. If you decide not to go ahead at that point — for any reason, with no explanation needed — we refund the deposit in full to the card you paid with.

Once you accept the quote, the deposit becomes part of the purchase price and the balance is invoiced. From that point the order is in production: a print is made and a frame is built for you, so the deposit is no longer refundable on a change of mind. Your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act are unaffected (see below).

What you are buying

An A1 print is one of a signed, numbered limited edition of 50. An A0 Grand Edition print is one of 10, signed and numbered, framed only. The A2 is an open edition and is not numbered.

Artist's proofs (3 per size) are not sold online.

Each print is giclée-printed in archival pigment inks on Hahnemühle Photo Rag by Print Art in Auckland. Framed editions are built by hand by The Black and White Box in Auckland: deep black box frame, rigid archival mount, non-reflective art glass.

Because each print and frame is made to order, allow 3–4 weeks from accepted quote to dispatch. We will tell you if it will be longer.

Shipping

Shipping is quoted per order because of the size and because a framed piece behind glass has to be crated. We collect your address and phone number at the deposit stage so we can quote accurately. Local Auckland delivery and collection can be arranged.

Risk passes on delivery. Damage in transit is ours to fix: tell us within 7 days of delivery and send a photo, and we will repair or replace.

Consumer Guarantees Act 1993

If you are buying as a consumer in New Zealand, this artwork comes with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993. The goods must be of acceptable quality, fit for purpose, match their description, and be supplied with reasonable care and skill.

If a print or frame fails to meet a consumer guarantee, you are entitled to a repair, replacement or refund, and to compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. Nothing on this site limits those rights.

Where the goods are bought for business purposes, section 43(2) of the Act applies and the guarantees are contracted out of to the extent the law allows.

Nothing here limits your rights under the Fair Trading Act 1986.

Payments

Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card number. Deposits are taken in New Zealand dollars by UM Limited, the trading entity behind Shaved Monkeys; your card statement will show the Shaved Monkeys art descriptor.

The balance is invoiced separately after you accept the quote.

The images on this site

Every image here is a low-resolution, watermarked preview. The print masters, PDFs and full-resolution files are never published. Copyright in MULTIVERSE MAP and in the code that generates it remains with Ulrich Frerk. Buying a print does not transfer reproduction rights.
